Open the 1tomate on the desktop image.
Window / duplicate.
Close the original.
Save and name the copy: tomato
Select the hand tool and set on Black and white.

VIDEO-1

Since this is a JPG, we find in the layers palette a layer called: background.
Right click on the layer “background” and change it to raster layer.
Change the name of the layer to: model
For this work we use a template, but after two or three tomatoes by you,
you won’t need it any longer.

Open a new vector layer and name it “forme”.
OK
Zoom to 200.

With the pen tool,
Point to point setting.
Line width: 2.00 (other configurations: standard).
Foreground: basic blue. OK
Background: closed
Stroke the outline of the tomato without taking account of the stem.
Use the least nodes as possible. Close the selected outline.

Select the nodes and bend the curve before or after to outline the tomato.
Here is the form after curved nodes.
The nodes are still active.

Select the hand tool.
Using the hand tool we have options as the zoom.
We see the small hand, which indicates that all other tools are closed.

To find the nodes of the vector shape:
Select the + of the “forme” layer and select the newly drawn shape.
Here there is only a layer, but we could have several.
It would be necessary then to select the layer on which we want to work.
Select the pen tool.
We see the nodes and we can still change them.

In styles and textures:
Click in the foreground.
With the color dropper, choose a medium red found in the tomato.
OK
The outline is now red.

In styles and textures: switch color. (The two white arrows)
We now have our background of tomato color.
Convert the vector layer shape to a raster layer.
Close the shape layer visibility.

Open a new vector layer.
Name it stem [tige].
OK
With tool pen:
Point to point,width 2.
Foreground: Green # 008000
Background: Green # 00c000
Stroke a first outline for the stem.
Click Apply

Draw a first leaf. Invent your shapes.
Apply.
Draw other leaves and apply each time.
We can easily move the order of the sub vector layers by sliding them, if needed.

Convert the layer vector stem to a raster layer.
Close the layer visibility of the stem layer.

Select layer “forme” and make it visible.
With the magic wand tool:
Tolerance and escalation 0 . With other typical configurations.
Make a click outside the shape.
We now have a floating selection.
Select the layer “modèle” to make it active.
Edit/cut.
Selection/Select None.

Open the visibility of the layer “tige” [stem].
We have three raster layers.
Starting from the bottom, “model“, “form“, “tige.”
Save in psp.

VIDEO - 2

Select the shape forme layer.
Open a new vector layer and name it: 1
OK
From the bottom we have layers “model“, “shape“, “1“, and “stem“.
Close the shape layer and the stem layer.

On the layer 1, with the pen tool.
Point to point or freehand setting. [We will be using both.]
Foreground: closed
Background: with the pipette pick the color of dark red spot.
Draw the outline of this spot and close the outline.
Convert the layer 1 to a raster layer.

Select the shape layer.
Open a new vector layer and name it 2
Layer 2 must be under Layer 1

With the pen tool:
Foreground : closed.
Background : pick the color around the dark spot with the pipette.
Draw the outline of this spot and close the outline.
Convert the layer 2 in raster layer.

Select the “shape” layer.
Open a new vector layer and name it 3
Layer 3 must be under Layer 2

Background, with the dropper pick color around the spot we just drew.
Draw the outline and close the outline.
Convert the layer 3 to a raster layer.

To make the outline of the tomato, it is better to use the pen tool point to point
for a clean curved edge.

Example here for layer 4.

To check the outlines of the layers, close the visibility of the model.
Preferably, start with dark hues and finish with pale hues.
At the end, the model must be hidden by all the shapes.

To see a preview, open the t1 image is located in the zip folder.
Starting from the bottom, layer “model”, visible.
The layer “forme” not visible.
19 raster layers, visible (converted vectors).
The layer “tige” [stem], not visible.

Video-3 layer

At this point, we have no more need of the model.
Delete the model layer.
Close the stem and shape [forme] layer visibility.
Merge your many (all converted to raster) layers into one layer: visible.
Rename the layer: tomato.

Open the shape [forme] layer.
Here we can make an adjustment by reducing the intensity [opacity] of the tomato layer.
Adjust it according to your taste.

The Red shape supports the transparent pixels of the tomato layer.
Merge the tomato with the layer below.
Open the visibility of the stem layer and select it to make it active.

Zoom in to work more easily.
With other vector layers above the stem, in different green tones, create lights
and shadows taking into account the source of the light.

Convert to a raster layer and merge with the stem layer.

What remains is the finishing touches.
On the layer “forme“, open a new vector layer.
Name it: shadow.
Use the Pen tool
Closed foreground.
Background: pick a dark red which is located in the tomato and suggest
the shadow of stem on the tomato.
Convert raster layer and merge visible layers.

Open a raster layer and move it under the tomato.

With the flood fill tool, fill the layer with white.

Open a new vector layer. Name it “shadow“.
With the Pen tool
Foreground: closed.
Background: a medium grey.
Suggest the shadow coming from the tomato.
Convert to a raster layer.
Save in psp.
To publish, save in JPG.

You can find in the zip the psp image: t2.
This is a half tomato created in the same way as the tomato.

Here are fruit worked in the same way.
