You will have a beautiful experience with vectors!
It is not necessary to name the images as well as the copies,
this is just an exercise!
Open an image of 400 by 400 Pixels.
Raster Background, Transparency: checked.
OK
Open a new vector layer. OK
With Ellipse tool, Mode: Draw circle.
Usual configurations. Width: 8.00
Foreground: the color of your choice.
Background: choose a pattern of your choice. OK
Close background, for the moment.
Draw a circle of this size.
Now to center a vector shape:
Select with a right click on the layer, New Ellipse.
Choose: Align objects>center in Canvas.
To keep the form without modifying it :
Select Apply or Selection> Select None.
How to find the nodes and then to modify them,
add more
or remove some, right click in the image.
Choose : Convert to path.
[ In version 8: Click on the ellipse layer or shape tool to
reactivate the vector, then click on the pen tool.]
Select PEN Tool.
You will see here your 4 basic nodes.
By selecting a node, the arrow before and after becomes visible.
Here the arrow goes in the direction of a watch.
To change its orientation to counter clockwise:
A right click in the image.
Choose: Edit> Reverse Contour.
[ In Version 8: Objects>edit>reverse contour.]
A right click on each one, to modify with Node Type.
[Version 8: Objects>node type>choose asymmetry, etc.
Choose Asymmetry or Cusp and curve the form.
To add a node : touch the line while holding down Ctrl key (+add).
To remove : select node with a right click and choose : Edit> Merge.
[Version 8: Objects>edit>merge]
To cut the form.
Select : Knife Mode.
Hold left click down, cut a line.
In mode Point to Point, move the nodes.
[Version 8 you have to go back to drawing mode in order to
choose point to point.]
We can cut two lines at the same time.
Change the width of the line.
Open background.
Material swap.
To close the shape.
Select a node and then click on “Close selected open contours.”
To continue a shape.
Select the node of the end and continue the shape.
Open another image. (Same configurations)
Open a new vector layer. OK
With Rectangle tool, Mode: Draw a Square.
Usual configurations. Width: 8.00
Foreground : the color of your choice.
Background : close
Draw a square.
We can easily move the form with the cursor inserted
on the line
of contour.
[In version 8, you must switch to Move Tool to move the square.]
A right click in the image. Convert to Path.
[ In version 8: Click on the ellipse layer or/ shape tool to reactivate
the vector, then click on the pen tool.]
Select PEN tool.
We have 4 nodes.
Add a node between the nodes.
By selecting each node, change the Node Type :
and curve the
arrows in a random way.
[ In Version 8: Objects>node type>choose .]
When done: One small exercise!
Select a node, right click, Choose: Transform select and test the
transformations on different nodes.
[Version 8: Objects>transform selected nodes>choose]
